Brasted’s Supports Pupil Enrichment Event

On Saturday 16th March, we were delighted and honoured to team up with Norwich School for their biggest fundraising event of the year – a Great Gatsby 1920’s Jazz Night.

The evening was organised by registered charity, Friends of Norwich School, who raise funds to support a bursary for pupils. It was a particularly important evening, however, as they were also raising money for mum of two pupils at the school, Maxine Amis who suffered life changing injuries in a cycling accident in 2018.

The glamorous event took place in Epic Studios, which we transformed into an opulent venue, with crushed velvet table cloths and huge candelabras. The menu consisted of a starter of mixed leaf salad with sun blushed tomatoes, heritage beetroot, ripped basil & mozzarella salad, followed by thyme and garlic chicken with gratin potatoes and a light creamy tarragon sauce served with seasonal vegetables. Dessert was our fabulous warm vanilla and raspberry Bakewell tart with crème Chantilly.

During dinner guests were entertained by spectacular Jazz sets from pupils, staff and former pupils, led by Richard Allain, Director of Music at Norwich School and there was dancing until late.

For us, it was a really exciting event, not only because we were catering but also because we were supporting the school in making the evening an opportunity for educational enrichment. For the pupils performing it was a chance to experience a professional stage and perform to a paying audience. For other students there were opportunities back of house to film and run the event, but there were also front of house roles meeting and greeting guests, selling raffle tickets and managing the cloakroom. In addition, Brasted’s took students under our wing to help out with the hospitality. By the end of the night, they were confident how to professionally serve, clear tables, balance plates and engage with the guests, so it was a wonderful chance for them to acquire new skills. They did a fabulous job and they will each be receiving a Complete & Utter Brasted’s Certificate of Thanks.
