On 21st March, Brasted’s were honoured to support the Norfolk and Norwich Association of the Blind in hosting their second Dining in the Dark event.
Following the success of their last event in 2013, the charity was keen to once again create a dining experience like no other and give guests a sensory experience which would help them to understand what it is like to be blind, whilst enjoying a culinary feast designed to tantalize their taste buds and heighten the flavours.
Over 40 people joined us in the newly refurbished restaurant, and were issued optional blindfolds to wear during their meal – and we were delighted that so many people entered into the spirit of it gamely donning their facial adornments for each course. Our staff were on hand to support diners throughout the event and they soon assessed the importance of knowing the location of their wine and water glasses before the blindfold went back on before each course!
With a sumptuous menu featuring local produce including Binham Blue, Narborough Trout with pickled samphire, lavender and mint, guests were also treated to live guitar music from one of the clients of NNAB. The evening was a fantastic success and we hope to support the NNAB again in the future
