With Christmas just over two weeks away as I write this, we thought it might be a good idea to share some of our top tips for entertaining at Christmas.
As with many things in life – preparation is key! If you haven’t already started – get planning – the sooner the better! A bit of additional organisation and attention to detail now will enable you to spend more time with your family and friends when you are entertaining. Also think about creating shortcuts, which make your life easier when you are playing host – create a welcome drink for everyone (a Christmas punch or mulled wine). This will mean you will spend less time preparing individual drinks when guests arrive.
For decoration, its time to get creative! Swathes of opulent material are ideal as table cloths, runners or place mats. Norfolk and its abundance of nature, is the perfect place to create a stunning centrepiece, with ivy, holly, pine cones and mistletoe. Of course, at this time of year, candles are the perfect option for your lighting but battery powered fairy lights also look great intermingled with your decorations.
Finally, take time to set the table carefully. Here at Brasted’s we measure with a ruler to create symmetry when laying charger plates – perhaps you don’t need to go that far, but attention to detail is everything when setting out to wow your guests!
