Brasted's - History & People

John Brasted (or JB as he is generally known) founded Brasted’s Ltd in 1984. Although born into a family of piano and specialist joinery manufacturers, he always felt he was more suited to providing good food and wine for appreciative people, than managing a medium sized public company with all the responsibilities and frustrations involved.

Having spent the first ten years of his working life in the factory he realised he was right and so moved to Norwich, and took over Suttons Pianos on Exchange Street just to have a think. A further fifteen years was spent wholesaling and retailing pianos, allowing the seed of JB's idea of opening a Restaurant to gestate.

The ultimate birth was quiet and painless producing twins of a Restaurant and a Delicatessen, designed to provide meals and
food of the highest quality, on St Andrews Hill. It was inevitable that one twin, The Delicatessen, would fade away through lack of nourishment, allowing the other to grow and mature more effectively.

Between that time and now, Brasted’s certainly has matured, grown, and developed. Moving on from St Andrews Hill, it is now a considerable Company specialising in all aspects of the provision of high quality catering in the comfortable luxury of Manor Farm Barns at Framingham Pigot, and equally answering the huge demand at varied private venues.

In the superb Barns, in sophisticated Board Rooms, and in splendid marquees set in the gardens of private homes, Brasted’s maintains
the highest standard of food service: in every way comparable to that enjoyed by so many for so long on St Andrews Hill.
